Rightly named “the Pearl of the Sahel”, the city of Sousse, capital of the governorate of the same name, is in itself a popular seaside resort and a business center in which textile and other categories. The governorate of Sousse has 75 kilometers of coastline and borders Nabeul to the north, Zaghouan to the west and Mahdia to the south. Maritime wealth and soil fertility combine on this coast known for fishing and the production of olive oil. Its mild climate, the beauty of its beaches and its leisure port, Marina Kantaoui, have in fact a tourist and commercial center which is never empty. With 15 thalassotherapy centers, the governorate is also a medical tourism destination. In addition, there are twinnings between Sousse and some of the most beautiful cities and regions in the world, such as Saint Peters Bourg in Russia, Tuscany, Venetia and Puglia in Italy, Liège in Belgium and Hadrumète in Yemen. The governorate has 9 industrial zones dedicated to the agro-food industry, that of ceramic and glass, mechanical and metallurgical construction materials, to the chemical, electrical, electronic and household appliances, textiles and clothing industries, wood, cork and furniture, as well as the leather and footwear industries. There are 18 higher education establishments, 1 research center in Microelectronics and Nanotechnology, a competitiveness cluster, a technology park working in mechanics, electronics and IT and 38 vocational training centres. In addition, the governorate has an international airport.
